Thanks for wanting to check out Crosstimbers in a little more depth. We want you to learn about what we believe, what we practice, who we are, and to contact us if you have further questions, need help, or just want to talk.
We chose the name “Crosstimbers Christian Fellowship” because of what it means. “Crosstimbers” speaks to us of the rough-hewn timbers that bore Jesus as he died in our place. He gave himself for our sins on the cross, so we want to be a “cruciform” community of believers, willing always to take up our cross and follow him.
“Christian” means Christ-centered and Christ-honoring. Everyone has a worldview through which they see the world and which guides their lives. Our worldview is Christ. The apostle Paul said that for him, to live was Christ (Philippians 1:21). That is what we seek to do–to center our lives and thus, the church, around Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.
“Fellowship” speaks of the community of faith that the church exhibits and enjoys. It means to share in or participate in together. Thus, we share together in a common faith, a common love, and a common commitment to living for Jesus. We strive to encourage and help each other in this regard.
In summary, we are a cross-shaped, Christ-honoring, community of believers, wanting nothing more than to bring glory to God through our lives and to share with others the good news of Jesus. This section will provide more details, but now that you know who we are, perhaps you can understand better why we believe what we believe and do what we do. If not, please contact us. We want to talk with you.
