What does the Crosstimbers Missions Ministry do?
The Missions Ministry seeks to inform and motivate members to serve and share Christ in the local community and globally (cross-cultural outreach). It provides leadership for various activities, initiates activities, seeks funding, and informs the congregation.
Local Missions:
Crosstimbers serves the local community through its own Benevolence Fund and Serving Hands Ministry. We also cooperate with Community of Faith United (COFU), a food/clothing/job assistance program to assist those who are truly in need and wish to become self-sufficient, and with the Cold Weather Care Initiative, a network of organizations and churches which provide shelter and support to the homeless in Adams County.
Global Missions:
Our primary ongoing mission effort is Keirungi Children’s Village in Kabale, Uganda. Crosstimbers is the sending church for Shawn and Primrose Cox and their son, Samuel, as they work with Bread of Life African Ministries (BOLAM) to provide homes for orphaned and abandoned children, many of whom have HIV/AIDS.
Short-Term Team Mission Trips:
Crosstimbers teams have travelled to serve in Panama, China, and Mexico; our next mission trip will be to to Uganda in the summer of 2011. |
